Dortmund - November 21st, 1984
Minimax comments :
This concert I taped with an AIWA walkman and an extra microphone
(I can't remember what microphone it was).
It was recorded from the middle of the audience about 5 meters from the stage or 10 meters from the stage
and again 5 meters from the stage. It depends. (See below why)
The sound quality is very good +, sometimes better.
This is a real fine audience master because it is from an audience master as an audience master should be:
a lot of talk of the people around. Sometimes shouting:"U2! U2!" or "I will follow" or another shit.
And there have been many people around me and my microphone
during that gig because - hey, I was in the middle of a sometimes really enthusiastic crowd,
hopping around (me too) and going wild. I remember a poor ZDF-camera-man (und sein Kabeltraeger) just beside me
filming it and sweating like a .... (don't know an english word for it, sorry). And me taping
and we took a look at each other and we suddenly knew that we both had a shit-job to do that evening.
This was the best U2 experience I went through in my concert-career.
The worst and last will follow later (Cologne 1987 - as told before).
.and now the desaster: I really don't know what happened. The first side of my master-cassette
is really fine. But after the tape-flip (after BAD) the cassette ..aaaaaaaargh!! (in german: die eiert wie Sau!!!)
I have seeded the desaster-part here too and you will recognize that there is no hope / chance for repairing it.
I don't know why the rest of it then again really works fine. Sorry!
It is what it is!! |
