This recording starts off very, very muddy. The intro to and first verse of "Hawkmoon 269" sounds like it was recorded with blanket over the mics. By the time the chorus of "Hawkmoon 269" is played for the second time, the sound has improved slightly, but it still lacks clarity and crispness. Overall, the sound is fairly distant as well. There are several small pops in the recording, which suggest it may have been transferred from vinyl at some point in its history. Audience noise is present at times and on a few occasions the voices and clapping of fans, while not overly distracting, are more clear than the band's music and Bono's vocals. There is a brief dropout at 3:30 of "Bad". Disc 2 cuts in as "Bono" begins singing the first verse of "With Or Without You". The sound quality is miserable again for the first 1:30 of the disc, then improves somewhat. |
